The WHOIS Check tool looks up registrant, registrar, and registration date information for any domain, queried directly from the authoritative WHOIS chain.
Unlike DNS records (which tell you how a domain *resolves*), WHOIS tells you who owns it — the legal entity, the registrar it was registered through, and when it was created, updated, and will expire.
1. Enter a domain name (e.g., `example.com` or `telenegar.ir`) 2. Select a probe location 3. Click "Look Up" 4. Review the results
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Registrant | The person or organization that registered the domain |
| Registrar | The company through which the domain was registered |
| Creation Date | When the domain was first registered |
| Updated Date | When the registration record was last changed |
| Expiry Date | When the current registration period ends |
| Name Servers | The DNS servers responsible for the domain |
| Domain Status | Registration status (active, clientHold, etc.) |
WHOIS is useful for many diagnostic and security scenarios:
Many registrars offer WHOIS privacy protection, which hides the registrant's personal details behind a proxy service. When this is enabled, you'll see the registrar's privacy service instead of the real owner.
This is common for legitimate sites, but it also means WHOIS alone is not enough to verify ownership — you may need to cross-reference with other tools.
These two systems serve different purposes:
| Aspect | WHOIS | DNS |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Who owns the domain | How the domain resolves |
| Data | Registrar, registrant, dates | IP addresses, mail servers, TXT records |
| Query | WHOIS protocol (port 43) | DNS protocol (port 53) |
| Tool | WHOIS Check | DNS Check |
Different top-level domains have different WHOIS servers and formats:
